Trying to print something and there’s nothing jammed in any area I open. The ink cartridges are stuck to the right and won’t move no matter how many times I’ve reset it and unplugged the power cord. Error code is 0x6100004a.

Hi @Alleycush,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0x6100004a on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-In-One Printer usually indicates a hardware issue. If you've already checked for paper jams and are still facing the problem, here are additional steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if the issue persists.
Check for Obstructions:
- Make sure no foreign objects or obstructions are preventing the carriage or other moving parts from functioning properly.
- Open the printer and check the area around the ink cartridges for any obstructions.
Inspect Ink Cartridges:
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and are not damaged.
- Remove and reseat the ink cartridges to make sure they are securely in place.
Manually Move the Carriage:
- Turn off the printer.
- Manually move the carriage to check for any obstructions.
- If the carriage is stuck, try to gently move it back and forth to see if it loosens up.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the firmware might resolve certain issues.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord to the power source and the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
