I have a broken hinge on the right side of the scanner cover of an HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer. A company called Mara Import Services says they can fix it for $170. I paid $100 (on sale) for the printer about 6 years ago. The printer still works but awkward to lift scanner cover with the broken hinge. I still have quite a few extra 950 (black) and 951 (colored) cartridges for the printer. Best Buy and Office Max can't fix it nor do they know of any other printers that use those cartridges. Does anyone know if that model is still available somewhere or another model that would use those cartridges? Otherwise, my options as I see it are: pay the fee to repair the printer and keep it; live with it the way it is now until I use up my cartridges and buy a new printer with different cartridges; or bite the bullet now and get a new printer/cartridges.

Unless you can find a hinge cheap on Ebay I would just use it the way it is till you deplete the cartridges.
