macOS 12.0 Monterey

After the latest update the photo prints via HP Smart turn out bad.

Areas that are slightly blue in the photo becomes extra saturated and appear clearly more blue (which ruins the photo).

When printing with other apps it turns out fine, it's ONLY a problem with the latest update of HP Smart.

I have tried to:

- Align printhead (calibrate)

- Change both cartridges

Kinda ridiculous that i had to extend my subscription to try to print many pages after trial and error just to find out that the issue is ONLY when printing through HP Smart app. I would like to be refunded, because this error is not caused by me.

Please fix in an update or let me know what i can do to fix it.

Clearly it's a software issue as other apps can print it exactly like the photo, without any color defect.

The HP Smart app version i use is 16.1.1.2561

Hi @haxxblaster,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing extra blue color in photo prints when using the HP Smart app, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Select the printer you're using.
  • Check the print settings to ensure that they are configured correctly for photo printing. Make sure you have selected the correct paper type (e.g., glossy photo paper) and quality settings (e.g., best quality).

Check Ink Levels:

  • Low or empty ink cartridges can affect print quality. Check the ink levels in your printer through the HP Smart app and replace any empty or low cartridges.

Calibrate Your Printer:

  • Some printers have a calibration or alignment feature that ensures accurate color representation. Check your printer's user manual for instructions on how to calibrate it.

Update Printer Drivers and Firmware:

  • Outdated printer drivers or firmware can lead to printing issues. Make sure your printer has the latest drivers and firmware updates installed. You can usually find these on the HP website.

Use High-Quality Photo Paper:

  • Low-quality or incompatible paper can affect print results. Make sure you're using photo paper that is compatible with your printer and is designed for photo printing.

Check Color Management Settings:

  • Ensure that color management settings on your computer or mobile device are not causing the issue. Make sure that your device is not applying any color corrections or filters that could be altering the colors in your photos.

Clean the Printhead:

  • If the printhead is clogged or dirty, it can lead to print quality issues. Many HP printers have a printhead cleaning utility that you can use to clean the printhead.

Perform a Test Print:

  • Print a test page or a sample photo to see if the issue persists. This can help you determine whether the problem is specific to certain photos or if it occurs with all prints.

Check the Color Profile:

  • Ensure that your photo editing software or the app you're using to view photos is not applying an incorrect color profile to your images. Images with the wrong color profile can print with inaccurate colors.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the extra blue color issue in your photo prints when using the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
