Hi @ZEESHANSARWAR,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering a common issue with HP printers where new cartridges are blocked due to firmware restrictions. Here's how you can try to resolve this problem.
Steps to Resolve Cartridge Block Issue:
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure that the cartridges you installed are compatible with your HP OfficeJet 7720 printer. Using non-HP or remanufactured cartridges can often trigger firmware blocks.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 5-10 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the firmware and recognize the new cartridges.
Update Firmware:
- If the printer is connected to the internet, check for any available firmware updates:
- Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your printer model.
- Download and install any available updates.
- Note: Be cautious with updates, as newer firmware can sometimes enhance the blocking of non-HP cartridges.
Use HP Support Assistant:
- Download the HP Support Assistant tool, which can help check your printer status and assist with troubleshooting.
- This tool may also help you revert to an older firmware version if needed.
Reinstall Cartridges:
- Remove the cartridges and carefully reinstall them, ensuring they click into place securely.
- Check for any protective tape that may still be on the cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
