Hello, hoping to get some advice. My sister gave me a printer she had stored unopened for a few years. I can not get it to print right. It won't print black at all and everything is faded and blurry. It is a Deskjet 2700

Hi @Christirb95,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2700 has faded and blurry prints (no black ink printing). Let’s go through a few checks.

Because the printer was stored for several years, the ink cartridges are likely dried out, clogged, or expired.

  • Replace Cartridges: Unused ink dries over time, especially over several years. New cartridges are the most likely solution for the "no black" and "faded" issues.
  • Run Automated Cleaning (HP Smart App):
    1. Open the HP Smart app.
    2. Select your printer.
    3. Go to Printer Settings or Tools > Print Quality Tools.
    4. Select Clean Printheads.
  • Align the Printer: In the same tool menu, select Align Printheads to fix the blurry printing.
  • Check Vents: Remove the cartridges and check if the small vent hole at the top is blocked.
  • Manual Cleaning: If cleaning doesn't work, remove the cartridge and gently wipe the copper-colored nozzle with a damp cloth, or use a "hot water flush" method for severely dried cartridges.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

I'm an HP Employee.
