@Nose1946, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check for Printer Firmware Updates

  • HP often releases firmware updates that can block third-party cartridges.
  • To update the firmware, you can either go to the HP support website for your printer model or use the HP Smart app to check for updates.

Reset the Printer

  • Power off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then power it back on.
  • Some users have reported that a reset can help clear any errors or blockages with compatible cartridges.

Check the Cartridge Chip

  • Some compatible cartridges have chips that communicate with the printer. If the chip is damaged or not properly aligned, the printer might not recognize the cartridge.
  • Try removing the cartridge, inspecting the chip for any damage, and reinstalling it carefully.

Remove and Reinstall Cartridges

  • Power off the printer and carefully remove the compatible cartridges.
  • Reinstall them securely to ensure that the contacts on the cartridge and the printer are aligned properly.
  • Restart the printer to check if the issue persists.

Check for Error Messages

  • If your printer displays an error message like "Cartridge not recognized" or "Incompatible cartridge," the printer may be rejecting the cartridge.
  • Some printers allow you to override the error message (like pressing "OK" or "Continue"), so try doing that if applicable.

Try a Different Cartridge

  • Test a different compatible or original HP cartridge to see if the issue is with the specific one you’re trying to use.
  • This can help you isolate whether it’s a problem with that particular cartridge or a broader issue with the printer.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
