Firmware Update Bricks 3rd Party Cartridges

I have a HP OfficeJet 8028 Printer which underwent a firmware update which rendered my 3rd party printer cartridges unusable.  I'm very unhappy that HP has effectively bricked my printer because I refuse to purchase their overpriced cartridges.  My question is this, how do I downgrade the firmware back to a version which will allow me to use my 3rd party cartridges or override this "HP Safety Check" and be able to use my 3rd party cartridges?  This seems to be a blatant money grab by HP. Please assist.

Both the Non-e and the "e" models in this series are protected by Dynamic Security.

Dynamic Security requires that ink cartridges used in the printer include an embedded HP Chip / circuitry.

Ask your ink supplier whether they adhere to this requirement for the embedded HP Chip / circuitry.

There is no legal way to bypass the security.
