My wife has replaced the black 203X cartridge (non-HP, compatible) in our printer with another of the same batch, which has been refused by the printer as being non-HP. I have then bought more, which have also been refused, as they are non-HP. I cannot afford HP cartridges. Given it is likely a firmware update which has caused the issue, what is the support/warranty on the firmware (given the warranty on the hardware is expired), or does anyone know where I can get historic versions of the firmware, to roll it back to a version that works?
EDIT: Printer settings have been unchanged since installation, and cartridge protection etc is off. We have previously used non-HP cartridges from various sources without issue.
Many thanks.

Hi @Antony_Gibbs,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it is not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
Hope this helps.
Take care and have a nice day!
