Was printing an important document when it stopped printing part way through. Needed it for air travel.
Error states Ink Cartridge not designed for this printer, even though it is a genuine HP 301 black cartridge.
tried all the recommended info to no avail. Put in another genuine cartridge but still same error 😡😡
tried to contact HP but got more chance of being Knighted, it’s as if they have a new marketing strategy of forcing us to buy the latest printers 😡😡
Anyone help on this matter please?

Hi @D1883,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an ink cartridge error with your HP ENVY 5530 E-All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Perform a power reset on the printer.
- Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP Recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet - Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Update the printer firmware-
- Download available firmware updates from the HP website.
- With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer.
- Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
