Need to restore factory settings of the printer, but forgot admin password, so I can't access the service menu.

How to proceed!?

Thanks!

Ok, connection via usb let me try some different passwords. Found it finally!

LEARNING: Don't use characters, since you are not able to key it in the numeric keyboard if the printer!

BUT STILL: a reset is only possible if you have a password, if set.

There must be a way to hard reset the printer , or isn't that possible,

@Mimamu  Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you have forgotten the admin password.

Please restore the printer to the factory default settings as follows:

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Setup button ().
  2. Open the following menus:
    Service
    Restore Defaults
  3. Touch or press the OK button. The printer automatically restarts.

Hi,

Already tried this. But as soon as I enter the service menue, the input for the

password is prompted.

So no luck with that approach.

I also can't remember that I have set a password in the first place.

Maybe there is a default password? It only can be something numeric.

Cheers!

Nope, does not work.

Is there another way to hardreset the printer?

Maybe setup via usb and pc?

@Mimamu

The only option to restore the factory setting is from the printer front panel menu and there is no other way to reset the printer.

Cheers!
