Hi @wvcher,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're seeing lines across your photos even after installing new ink and cleaning the printhead, it suggests a few potential issues might be causing the problem. Here’s a detailed troubleshooting guide to help you address the issue:

1. Check Printhead Alignment

  • Perform Printhead Alignment:
    • Most printers have a printhead alignment feature in their settings. This helps ensure that the printhead is properly aligned with the paper.
    • Access this option through the printer's control panel or software. It usually involves printing an alignment page and then following on-screen instructions to complete the alignment.

2. Check for Ink Cartridge Issues

  • Double-check that the ink cartridges are installed correctly. They should be firmly seated in their slots.
  • Remove the cartridges and check for any visible ink leaks or clogs on the cartridge nozzles.

3. Inspect the Paper and Printing Surface

  • Ensure that you are using high-quality photo paper that is suitable for your printer. Poor-quality paper can affect print quality.
  • Ensure the paper is loaded correctly and aligned in the paper tray. Misalignment or wrinkled paper can cause printing issues.

4. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to the printer hp website and download the latest drivers for your model. Install these drivers to ensure compatibility and fix potential issues.
  • Uninstall the current printer drivers from Device Manager and then reinstall the latest drivers.

5. Run a Print Quality Diagnostic

Print a Test Page:

  • Most printers have a diagnostic or test page feature that helps identify issues with print quality. Print a test page to check if the lines are present there as well.

Check for Print Quality Settings:

  • Ensure you’re using the highest print quality settings for photos. Go to the print dialog and select the highest resolution or photo quality option.

6. Clean the Printhead Thoroughly

  • If the standard printhead cleaning didn’t help, perform a deep cleaning through your printer's maintenance menu. This process may take longer and use more ink but can address more stubborn clogs.
  • If you are comfortable doing so, you can manually clean the printhead with a lint-free cloth and distilled water. Be very careful to avoid damaging any components.

7. Inspect for Hardware Issues

  • Look for any obstructions or debris inside the printer that might interfere with printing.
  • If the printhead is damaged or worn out, replacing it might be necessary. Consult the printer’s manual for replacement instructions or contact the manufacturer for a new printhead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
