I am not sure what is going on. I have changed the ink cartridge.  If I leave it alone for a few days, it will print 2 pages exactly and then start again.  It does it in all programs.

@chewbie07, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Dirty Printhead or Nozzles:

Even with new ink, dried ink or debris on the printhead can cause streaks.

This would explain why it works temporarily after being idle — the dried ink may settle or shift slightly.

Misaligned or Partially Blocked Cartridges:

If the cartridge wasn’t seated perfectly or if the vent is clogged, ink may not distribute evenly.

Run a printhead cleaning.

Check for smudges or ink on the roller.

Open the access door and shine a flashlight inside.

Look closely at the rollers on the left side—gently clean with a lint-free cloth and a dab of distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.

Align the printer: Printing an alignment page on an HP printer | HP® Support

This helps fix minor misfires in cartridge placement.

Inspect the cartridges:

Remove and reseat the cartridges.

Make sure the tape (if it was new) is removed and the vents are unobstructed.

Print a diagnostic page:

On HP printers, this is sometimes called a print quality diagnostic page It helps check for recurring issues with color output and nozzle alignment.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Unfortunately these steps did not help.  I have since made changes to the driver and the firmware and still not change.  It only does this when it is trying to print a picture.  The text and everything else is fine except the picture.  The rgb pages print fine.

Hi @chewbie07,

Thank you for the response.

Since @Garp_senchau is not available at the moment, I'll be assisting you further.

Here's what you can try next:

Deep Cleaning of Printheads (Manually Triggered)

Even though it's an OfficeJet, this model supports extended cleaning cycles:

Open HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) from printer IP (e.g., http://192.168.x.x)

Go to Settings > Print Quality Tools > Clean Printheads

If it offers “Level 2” or “advanced” cleaning—run it.

If you've only done one cleaning before, it might not have reached edge nozzles.

Print “Diagnostic Print Quality Page”

This is essential now:

On the printer:
Press Menu > Reports > Print Quality Page

It will show test patterns for each nozzle bank, edge to edge

Send me that photo if possible, and I can pinpoint the nozzle line misbehaving.

Check PageWide Print Bar (Visually)

Power off the printer and gently check the print bar (long black bar across the width of the paper path):

Use a lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol

Gently dab (do NOT rub hard) across the left-most side

Sometimes micro-debris or dried ink at the edge can cause poor firing.

Print in “Grayscale” or “Black Only.”

Print a photo but in “grayscale only” mode:

If the streak disappears, it's clearly a color rendering issue

If it remains → it's related to paper feed or printhead bar

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
