I HAVE TRIED FOR OVER AN HOUR.  I WAS SENT COLOR INK, BUT NOT THE BLACK INK I AM LOW ON.  I HAVE USED YOUR SERVICE FOR YEARS AND WHEN EVER I HAVE A PROBLEM, IT TAKES DAYS TO GET SOMEONE TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM AND SENT THE INK. VERY BAD SERVICE.

Hi @7years,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you are almost out of black ink, received only color ink, and this has been very frustrating after using the service for years. Let’s go through a few steps to make sure the black ink shipment is triggered correctly and to help you keep printing in the meantime.

Check black ink status in HP Smart
Open the HP Smart app and check the black ink level shown there.
If it still shows low or very low, the system should automatically trigger a black cartridge shipment.

Confirm Instant Ink shipment status
Sign in to your HP account and open the Instant Ink section.
Check “Shipment Status” to see if a black ink cartridge is already pending or delayed.

Run a printer status update
With the printer powered on and connected to the internet, wait 10–15 minutes.
This allows the printer to report current ink levels again and can retrigger a shipment.

Reseat the black cartridge
Open the cartridge access door and remove the black ink cartridge.
Reinsert it firmly, close the door, and wait for the printer to update ink levels.

Try temporary printing options
If needed, enable “Print using composite black” or grayscale printing in printer settings.
This uses color ink to simulate black and can help short-term until the cartridge arrives.

Power reset the printer
Turn the printer on and unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall.
Wait 60 seconds, reconnect the cord directly to a wall outlet, and turn the printer back on.

I hope this helps.
