Hello!

I just purchased some new ink cartridges and some Premium Plus Glossy Photo Paper so I can make prints of artwork from home.
The Printer I’m using is an HP Envy 5660. Printing through a Mac (sorry, not sure the exact model)

Did some test prints today. First one turned out great. Crisp lines and vibrant colour. Only issue is that I had not selected “ Photo Paper” beforehand, so there are some “barely there” lines in the printing.

did a couple more prints. This time, I made sure to select Photo Paper, best quality etc.
Now, the photos don’t print any lines, but the colours are a bit washed out.

First photo is printing without the Photo Paper selection.
second Photo is printed with Photo Paper selection.

It seems like the black isn’t printing dark enough. Both the colour and ink cartridges are brand new.

Hope you can help me solve this problem 🙂

thanks!

@MattS99, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the photo print quality is not satisfactory. I believe you are using HP photo papers to print.

You may check the paper-handling section on the printer specifications page to check the compatible photo papers.

Have you tried printing on regular paper and check the quality?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Check the print settings on the app you are using to print.

Try the Normal mode instead of Best and check the quality.

Refer to - HP Printers - How to Print Photos (Mac)

To resolve print quality issues, refer to - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

You may clean the ink cartridges and print a test page to check the result.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
