HP 1050C
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I purchased a HP 1050C plotter that had been sitting out of service for a while.  I just picked up NOS HP print heads & print head cleaners, and refurbished (lower cost) ink cartridges.  I didn't buy set-up print heads (just read about those in the service manual I downloaded).

The problem I am having is that the potter is showing an error code to re-seat the black print head.  I have removed and re-seated the head a few times, cleaning the flex electrical connections with alcohol and a cotton swab.  Also have cold-booted the plotter a few times.  Curious what the next step should be...I've read it may be an air-tube system issue or more likely a carriage electrical issue.  I can't seem to access the Electronic system test menu shown in the service manual.

All other self tests and diagnostics seem to be OK (no error codes) - it even loads paper rolls correctly.

Hoping someone out there can help me get this old plotter running.

Thanks for any advice,

John

It could also be a defective printhead.
