The 12A toner cartridge in my 1022N printer is finally giving up (faded print)... after about 5 years of use! I don't have the box, so I'm trying to figure out when my 12A cartridge was actually made. This will tell me how old the cartridge/toner is. Why do I need to know? Because I want to buy a sealed/unopened HP 12A toner cartridge online, that was (according to the shipping label) shipped in 2013 and never used. Would a toner cartridge THAT old (an entire decade!) still be usable? But, even if I don't get that one, knowing how old the one I did buy in 2018 (don't recall if it was used (or sealed/unused, but just the toner cartridge in the sealed protective bubble wrap - no box)), will help me know the minimum age that would still be functional.
The code stamped in the plastic on the cartridge itself is:
4A08
V1a
The other numbers on the handle are:
PS-FR(17)< MC1-5063 -M2-5H
