HP Recommended

I have a HP 1410 All In One printer. Works great. I put in a new HP 21 Black Ink Cartridge and I get a flashing light that says "Check Printer Cartridge" and a "E" appears on the copies screen. When I put the old, empty cartridge back in, all is normal . Walmart wont take back or exchange the cartridge. I have reset multiple times and cleaned every contact as suggested by HP. Any suggestions? Thanks!
