@MaximizedMom, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Ink Cartridge Recognition Issue for HP Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP 3535 printer is not recognizing the new ink cartridge, here are several steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

Ensure Compatibility: Verify that the ink cartridge is compatible with your printer model. Check the ink cartridge number against the printer specifications in the manual.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Remove the ink cartridge from its slot.
  • Ensure the protective tape is removed from the ink cartridge's copper contacts before reinstalling it.
  • Reinsert the cartridge securely in the holder.

Cleaning the Contacts:

  • Using a lint-free cloth, gently clean the copper contacts on the ink cartridge and the corresponding printer carriage contacts.
  • Ensure both contacts are dry before placing the cartridge back in.

Perform an Alignment:

  • Once the cartridge is reinstalled, perform a cartridge alignment from the printer’s control panel or through the HP printer software on your computer.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • It's possible that a firmware update for your printer could resolve the cartridge recognition issue. Visit HP's support site to check for any available updates.

Try Another Cartridge:

  • If you have another new ink cartridge, try installing it to see if the printer recognizes this one. The initial cartridge could be faulty.

Printer Reset:

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in.
  • Turn the printer on and check if the ink cartridge is now recognized.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
