I have a medical form and it prints very lightly, but the information on the form is not printing. My ink levels seem fine and I tried the cleaning as suggested. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the HP support community.

Did you make a copy and check if that prints fine?

Which application are you using to print?

I am using a Mac OS Mojave 10:14:6. Yes, I did make a copy, I made a few and they are too light to see.

I understand that you are getting print quality issues, and I am glad to assist you.

Clean the ink cartridges

  • Use HP Utility to clean the ink cartridges from your Mac.
  • Load plain paper into the input tray.
  • Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
  • Depending on your version of OS X, click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
  • In the Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners window, select your printer, and then click Options & Supplies.
  • Click Utility, and then click Open Printer Utility.
  • HP Utility opens.
  • Click Clean Printheads , and then click Clean.
  • A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.
  • Figure : Print Quality Diagnostic page
  • Example of a Print Quality Diagnostic page
  • Examine the Print Quality Diagnostic page.
  • If the print quality is acceptable, click Finish. You can stop troubleshooting.
  • If the print quality is unacceptable, click Cleaning Level 2 to continue the next level of cleaning.

I get to the "options and supplies" but no Utility shows up. I took screenshots, but can't seem to post them on here. Can you not send an email that I can reply to?

Thanks but I am now away for a few months but I would like to find out what to do in the future if it happens again. It's so expensive when the ink dries up but there is still ink there.

I will contact you at a later date.
