Hi, I have a hp 3830 printer. Can I print with just the black cartridge installed?  All i need is black for printing. Do i have to have the color one installed in order to print?  thanks

Sandy, thanks for the reply, but I just decided to buy a new HP printer and accomplished my project.

I understand that you want to use this printer with a single cartridge, I am glad to assist you.

Yes, you can use this printer in single-cartridge mode.

Use the single-cartridge mode to operate the printer with only one ink cartridge. The single-cartridge mode is initiated when an ink cartridge is removed from the ink cartridge carriage.
