This has got to be the dumbest issue I've ever seen in a tech product. A customer has an HP 4152e that was working fine, but now after replacing empty ink cartridges is stuck saying "Use Setup Cartridges". After looking into it, there's no information available without seeking support from HP because HP employees are extra careful to never post the solutions. Why require them in the first place? Why require them AGAIN when just replacing an ink cart? Clearly this stupidity is designed to get HP as much money as possible from people replacing printers and buying their overpriced "Instant Ink". Will you actually give me what I need to fix this printer or do I have to explain to the customer that HP doesn't care about her and just wants to soak her for as much money as possible by preventing repairs and requiring "Instant Ink" and "Setup Cartridges"? I get asked daily about recommendations for printers, but given what HP has been doing with their consumer facing printers lately I won't ever recommend one. Last time I sought help from HP I got nothing, so I'm not holding my breath this time.

Hi @TKR444,
Welcome to HP Support Community!
To bypass the message on the printer the only option left is to perform an OOBE reset and re-initialize the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Let me know if this helps.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
