I had not used this as a printer in quite a while -- just as a scanner.  Tried to print and it no longer printed in color.

I have replaced the ink cartridges with genuine HP ones and still no color.  If I print a color image it comes out printed as grayscale.  I have gone through the various fix cycles like running the cleaning process.  Nothing works.  The printer is attached to one machine on my LAN and prints the same way from any of the computers on the LAN -- no color.

 

Ran the cartridge check and it saw the color cartridge, but it indicated it was not full even though it was brand new.

 

Any suggestions on how to get this printer printing in color again would be appreciated.

@saberman, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

 

I see that the printer is not printing in color. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

 

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Black Ink Not Printing and other Print Quality Issues

 

Try making a standalone copy in color from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

 

If the printer is not detecting the new color ink cartridge, try with an alternate one(old/new)

 

If you have the same issue with 2 different color ink cartridges, I'm afraid the issue is with the printer. If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

 

If the alternate color ink cartridge works fine, prints in color, it means you can claim a replacement for the defective ink cartridge from HP.

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

 

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device. 

4) Select the country from the drop-down. 

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 

6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
