Product: HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer

My printer is in good condition and just started leaking black ink in out of the bottom and all over my table.   I am wondering what can be done to resolve the issue.   Are they supposed to start leaking and ruining furniture after a certain number of years ?  This printer hasn't moved more than a room since I bought it.

On the right side waste ink is collected, it's designed to never overfill because the printer will probably be replaced before overfilling.
