Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have followed the instructions as directed (see steps below - so I don't receive a response recommending the same) and cleaned the cartridges using the toolbox app multiple times. I installed a new color cartridge with an existing black cartridge that was 75% full. Color cartridge is printing but now the black does not print and photo images are distorted.

With the multiple cleaning attempts, I have now severely depleted a brand new color cartridge. The printer was working fine before the installation of the color cartridge (all cartridges are HP official made in Malaysia). Any recommendations or solutions from HP?

Already completed twice:

  • Check the Ink Level: Ensure that the new black ink cartridge has enough ink. Sometimes, cartridges may be faulty or improperly filled, so even if it's new, it might not have sufficient ink.
  • Remove and Reinstall the Cartridge: Turn off the printer and carefully remove the black ink cartridge. Check for any protective tape or stickers that might still be covering the cartridge's nozzle or contacts. If present, peel them off. Then, reinstall the cartridge securely.
  • Clean the Printhead: The printhead may have become clogged or blocked, which can prevent proper ink flow. Most printers have a built-in cleaning utility that you can access through the printer's settings or control panel. Run the printhead cleaning process to try and resolve the issue.
  • Align the Printhead: Proper printhead alignment is essential for consistent and accurate printing. Many printers also have an alignment utility that can be accessed through the settings. Follow the instructions to align the printhead.
  • Test Print: Print a test page or a nozzle check pattern to see if any improvement has been made. If the black ink is still not printing correctly, move on to the next steps.
  • Check Printer Software and Drivers: Make sure your printer software and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated software can lead to printing issues. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Check Printer Settings: Verify that your printer settings are correctly configured to use the black ink cartridge. Sometimes, printers default to using color ink to save on black ink usage. Check the settings and ensure it's set to use black ink when necessary.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in, turn it on, and try printing again. This can help clear any temporary glitches.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: HP occasionally releases firmware updates for their printers to address known issues and improve performance. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model and install them if necessary.
