The HP 64 black ink goes bad after 1.5 years. It will then immediately clog the nozzles. I've had HP printers for 20 years and I've never had a plugged nozzle before. Cleaning the nozzles doesn't help. They immediately clog again. I never used #64 ink before either. The 64 color ink has no problems.
Is there another black ink I can use in my envy photo 7155? Are there other HP black inks that have this problem? If I get tired of replacing the black cartridges when they are 3/4 full, and get another printer, what HP printers don't use 64 cartridges?

Hi @SteveB31,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating issue with the HP 64 black ink cartridges. Here’s some information and possible solutions:
Issues with HP 64 Black Ink
Ink Drying Out: HP 64 black ink cartridges may have a tendency to dry out or clog more quickly, especially if the printer is not used regularly. This can be exacerbated by the printer’s design and the ink formulation used.
Cleaning and Maintenance: While cleaning the nozzles might not solve the problem entirely, you can try running the printer’s built-in cleaning cycle several times or using the printer’s maintenance features to attempt to resolve the clogging.
Storage Conditions: Ensure the cartridges are stored in a cool, dry place and avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Cleaning the nozzles is impossible. The ink is bad and is the cause of the clogged nozzles. The 64 black ink is CRAP !!
I gave my sister the same envy 7155 printer and her printer has the same problem. I had to replace the black ink in that printer. The cartridge was 3/4 full. It's the second time I had to replace the black cartridge. The color cartridge has never been replaced and is almost empty.
I've used HP printers for over 20 years and never had a plugged nozzle before. The printer I had previous to this one used 95 and 98 ink. I used to get the big cartridges for it. I'm sure some of the cartridges sat around for 5 years before I used them. I'm guessing they would still be good after ten years.
The box the 64 black ink comes in has a warranty. It has an expire date around 1.5 years in the future or less, depending on how long it has been sitting on the store shelf. Did I mention that the 64 black is CRAP CRAP CRAP ?
I ask again, is there any other black ink I can use in my, and my sister's printer?
