I bought a two pack of HP Cartridges at Staples for my HP 6458 Inkjet printer.   The two pack sealed package contained one 67
XL Black Cartridge and one 67 TriColor Cartridge.    I installed both new cartridges into my 6458 HP printer.   I immediately saw a flashing error message on my printer.  The 67 TriColor cartridge installed perfectly.  However, the 67 XL Black Cartridge shows on my "HP Smart" that it is a "setup" cartridge.

This is a newly purchased two pack from Staples.  I can only assume that the 67 XL black cartridge I received is a mix up at HP. They must have packaged a "setup" cartridge instead of a regular XL cartridge.

What do I do?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand your concern. To bypass the message on the printer, the only option left is to perform an OOBE reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer, and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
