I changed all the ink cartridges (HP cartridges), tried the HP print doctor, cleaned printhead several times and cleaned cartridges, and no results.  Problem is with both copy and print.  The print doctor results were from left to right, pink, yellow, and brown.  No alignment problems.  What do I do next?

After going through HP print doctor and various other options, even cleaning the contacts on the cartridges, I checked the expiration dates on the cartridges I had just put in (given to me along with the printer), and found they had expired!  I exchanged them for new cartridges, and problem solved!  I wonder why that was not mentioned in the various solutions I had tried!
