Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am considering purchasing a HP6978 All in One inkJet printer.  1.   Can it be configured to print only with a Black Cartridge installed?  

                                                                                                                         2.   How long will the color cartridges last that come with the printer if I turn the color choice to Black only ?
