Seeing the following in user manual https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c03526316
"To keep cartridges from drying out, always turn the printer off using the Power button, and wait until the Power light goes out before you pull the plug or turn off a power strip. This allows the printer to move the cartridges to a capped position."
Does this apply to my HP7155, not used regularly?
Or is it best to print something, anything, not really needed on a regular basis?

Hi @M26K ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, the advice in the user manual applies to your HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One printer. Turning the printer off properly using the Power button allows the printer to position the cartridges in a capped position, which helps prevent the ink from drying out.
If you're not using the printer regularly, it's also a good practice to print something (even a test page or simple document) every week or two. This helps keep the ink flowing and prevents the cartridges from drying out.
In addition to turning off the printer correctly, you might also want to:
- Keep the printer in a room with consistent temperature and humidity, as extreme conditions can accelerate ink drying.
- If you plan on not using the printer for an extended period, remove the ink cartridges and store them in a cool, dry place (preferably in their packaging) to prolong their life.
This combination of proper shutdown and periodic printing will help you avoid issues with ink drying out when the printer isn't used often.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the reply, very helpful. However, I'm left with a lingering doubt. Does this section of that sentence, "...and wait until the Power light goes out before you pull the plug or turn off a power strip" suggest that in order for the cartridges to be capped it is necessary to not only shut down the printer but unplug it from power as well?
Or, more likely, is this sentence just awkwardly worded and not unplugging before the power light turns off meant only as a safety precaution and is not relevant to capping the cartridges? In other words, is it only necessary to shutdown without the extra step of unplugging?

if you leave the printer on and allow it to go into low power mode, it will automatically start periodically and perform a maintenance to prevent issues. yes this uses some ink, but typically less than leaving for a period and having to perform multiple cleanings to get acceptable quality.

Thanks, but would like to stay with the initial recommendation from HP Support Gaya1239, which involves shutting down + printing occasionally.
@Gaya1239 :
I'm left with a lingering doubt. Does this section of that sentence from support, "...and wait until the Power light goes out before you pull the plug or turn off a power strip" imply that in order for the cartridges to be capped it is necessary to not only shut down the printer but unplug it from power as well?
Or, more likely, is this meant only as a safety precaution and is not relevant to capping the cartridges. For me, it's basic commonsense to never shut down the printer, or for that matter, most devices, by pulling the power cord.
In other words, in order for the cartridges to be capped properly is it only necessary to shutdown without this most likely irrelevant (to capping) additional step of unplugging?
