I have purchased a complete set of new cartridges from Amazon at the HP Store there. Four new cartridges for black, cyan, magenta and yellow. All are XL. The printer is giving me the error message: DO NOT USE SETUP cartridges but they are not setup cartridges.
I have watched a video and searched online. I have removed the power cord from the printer, then unplugged the cable from the back of the printer. I held the power button down for 30 secs to release any power charge there might be. I plugged the cable back into the power after a few minutes and then put the cable into the back of the printer. No change at all, and the error message remains.
Some people talk of a reset or OOBE? What do I need to do next to get the printer doing its job please asap.

Nothing worked but I did notice that the error message saying 'Do Not use Setup Cartridges' only had the yellow cartridge indicated. In the end I had to go purchase another yellow cartridge and this worked fine.
Thank you for your help, it was much appreciated. I do not know why the printer failed in the way it did but I am able to print now.

possibly just powering it off (unplug it) for 60 seconds and holding some buttons down when turning on:
While the printer is powering up, press and hold the Resume or Cancel button until the lights start blinking. e. Once the lights stop blinking, release the button. Your printer should now be reset to its default setting |

Thanks for the suggestions but nothing has worked. I got the secret menu and did a semi-full reset with no improvement and the same screen/error message showing - DO NOT USE SETUP CARTRIDGES.
I then did a full factory/default reset and still no change in that the same message has appeared plus I can now only access the secret menu as the main menu normally on the screen cannot be accessed as I am unable to hide the error message.
This link has a screenshot of the printer screens which also show that it is not recognising the yellow cartridge but it does recognise the other 3 and shows they are full. I checked the yellow one is inserted correctly and it appears to be per the photo. I also checked it has ink in it and when holding the original yellow cartridge I still have from when the printer was purchased, the new one is heavier so has ink.
Any further suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry, the url was bad.
list of menu options included expand the "more" to see the options.
Did you buy the set as a complete kit? If the black one is not genuine HP maybe that is the problem. Do you have an old black ink cartridge to test with even if it is empty?

I bought them from the HP store on Amazon and they were sold as a single lot (£145). They are all from Malaysia according to the packaging and all are XL cartridges.
I will try the video link you sent, thanks for that and your suggestions.
