HP 8020 All in One squeaking

there is a squeaking noise when printer is turned on and again when a print is started. Doesn't look like feed rollers as they are not moving during either process and noise.

Listen for any rubbing or squeaking sounds — sometimes the belt or gears inside can squeak without the rollers moving.

If the belt looks dry, worn, or misaligned, it may need cleaning or lubrication.

3. Lubricate Moving Parts (If Needed)

Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean the metal rails where the carriage slides.

Do not use oil unless specified in the printer manual — some parts are plastic and oil can damage them.

4. Inspect the Power-On Mechanism

Some printers make a brief squeak when powering on due to the initialization of gears or motors.

If the sound is brief and does not affect printing quality, it may be normal mechanical noise.

5. Test Printing

Power on the printer and print a single page to see if the squeak occurs during actual operation.

Note if it happens only at startup, only during printing, or both.

6. Prevent Future Noise

Keep the printer in a clean, dust-free environment.
