HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 All-in-One Printer

Hey all

I'm constantly having to clean the printheads Every time I print something new on my HP 8028. My ink levels are fine, I've tried printing from Windows, iphone and Chromebook. The only way for the job to come out clear and with black ink is to clean the printheads, usually twice to get it working correctly.

However that means every print job no matter what size I have to clean the printheads twice even before printing what's needing to be printed.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks in advance

Hi @Krugerbooger,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are experiencing frustrating issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 printer where the printheads require frequent cleaning for satisfactory print quality. Here are some troubleshooting steps and tips you can try to address the problem:

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your ink cartridges have sufficient ink levels. Low ink levels can affect print quality and may require more frequent printhead cleaning.
  • Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges: Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP cartridges or refilled cartridges may not provide optimal print quality and could contribute to printhead issues.
  • Printhead Alignment: Perform printhead alignment through the printer's settings menu. This helps ensure that the printheads are properly aligned, which can improve print quality and reduce the need for frequent cleaning.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can address performance issues and improve overall functionality. Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 All-in-One Printer
  • Clean Printheads Manually: In addition to the automatic printhead cleaning function, you can try manually cleaning the printheads. HP provides instructions on how to manually clean printheads in the printer's user manual or on their website. Be careful to follow the instructions closely to avoid damaging the printheads.
  • Check Paper Quality: Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper for your print job. Low-quality or incompatible paper may contribute to print quality issues.
  • Print Settings: Adjust the print settings such as quality and paper type to see if it makes a difference in print quality and the need for printhead cleaning.

I am having the same problem. I have completed all the steps aside from manually cleaning the printheads. If that doesn't work, what is your next recommendation? Unfortunately, the factory warranty has lapsed.
