Chrome OS

I put in brand new ink cartridges and when I try and print I get a pop up error on the chromebook saying out of ink. I watched the HP troubleshooting video  and did every step except update my firmware and hardware because it says that feature is locked by the person who set up the computer. I did the printer maintenance, cleaned the smear, cleaned the printer heads, and reset the printer. And I still can't print that I need by tomorrow morning. Spent $104 dollars on new ink and can't even use it. Every HP printer I buy ends up being a piece of crap.

Hi @ColleenMiska,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove them and reinsert them securely, making sure they fit correctly.

Inspect Vents:

  • Check for any blockage on the cartridge vents that could prevent ink flow. Clean the vents gently if necessary.

Firmware Update:

  • Since updating your firmware and hardware is locked, you might need assistance from the person who set up your Chromebook to unlock these features or perform the update from another device that allows updates.

Printhead Cleaning:

  • Since you've cleaned the printhead already, you might want to run a second clean or perform a more extensive cleaning procedure if your printer has that option.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer completely and unplug it from the power source for a couple of minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.
