HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

My printer is connected to the internet via cable. I can print, sending it a mail or via wireless connection with my PC or my phone.

But it states that it's not connecting to the HPconnect server. I have checked the IP address of the printer, and it is connected to the Web Services, but shows an error in Estimated Ink Levels.

I have restarted the printer, my computer, and my modem, it doesn't work, and it doesn't let me print any more because of this issue.Screenshot 2025-10-04 113727.png

Hi @Caro46

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—I'm really sorry you're facing this frustrating issue. Based on your description, your HP Officejet Pro 8620 is connected to the internet and Web Services are enabled, but it's failing to reach HP’s cloud servers (HPconnect), which is blocking printing and showing an error in Estimated Ink Levels.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery process:

Step-by-Step Fix: HPconnect Server Error + Ink Level Fault

1. Remove and Re-enable Web Services

This forces a fresh handshake with HP’s servers.

  • Open the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering its IP address in a browser (e.g., http://192.168.1.2).
  • Go to Web Services tab.
  • Click Remove Web Services.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then click Enable Web Services again.
  • Accept terms and wait for the printer to reconnect.

This clears cached credentials and re-registers the printer with HP’s cloud.

2. Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can block server communication and cause ink level errors.

3. Check DNS and Proxy Settings

If your network uses custom DNS or proxy filtering, HP servers may be unreachable.

  • In the EWS, go to Network > Advanced Settings.
  • Set DNS manually to:
    • Primary: 8.8.8.8
    • Secondary: 8.8.4.4
  • Disable any proxy settings.
  • Save and restart the printer.

4. Run HP Diagnose & Fix Tool

This tool checks for Web Services faults and ink system errors.

  • Download: HP Diagnose & Fix
  • Run the tool and follow prompts to resolve server connection and ink level issues.

If the printer refuses to print due to ink level errors:

  • Try printing from Windows using HP Smart app, which may bypass the ink status check.
  • If enrolled in Instant Ink, expired cartridges or paused subscription can block printing.

Let me know if you see a specific error code or message during Web Services activation—I’ll guide you further.

You're doing everything right by catching this early and checking the EWS. We’ll get your printer back online.
