This is about HP Officejet Pro 8715. I bought new ink cartridges 952 XL from Costco and replaced it in Printer. Printer showed message of "Genuine HP Cartridges Installed", but in a few minutes, it showed another message indicating that the cartridge is an older version and will not work in my printer. That makes no sense, since the cartridge I am replacing was in a 2-pack at Costco and has been working just fine. For some reason, the second cartridge won't. Any ideas?

Hi @tydfan,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Cartridge Packaging:
- Verify that the cartridges are indeed HP 952 XL and not refilled or counterfeit. Ensure that packaging is authentic.
Reinstall the Cartridge:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove the black cartridge and inspect it for any protective tape or packaging that might still be attached.
- Reinstall the cartridge, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
Inspect for Damage:
- Check both the cartridge and the cartridge slot for any signs of damage or debris that might prevent proper recognition.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Carefully clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth to remove any fingerprints or debris.
- Also, gently clean the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date. Visit HP Support for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Confirm that the cartridge version is compatible with your printer model. Some newer printers may require updated cartridges even if they're the same model number.
Reset the Printer:
- Unplug your printer from the wall outlet, wait 60 seconds, and then plug it back in. Power it on afterward.
Try a Different Cartridge:
- If possible, try using another new black cartridge to determine if the issue is with the cartridge itself.
I hope this helps.
