Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have always used 962 an 962XL in in my HP 9015e, but it won't accept it now.  These cartridges are too expensive to toss. Please help.

Hi @medmatch2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I completely agree, even we do not want you to waste an expensive cartridge which is compatible.

We'd hate for you to be stuck in a situation like this. Because you matter to us.

Not to worry I'll do everything I can to help get this sorted for you.

I see HP 962 cartridges are compatible with your printer if your printer is bought and used in United States and Canada only.

If not HP 962 is not compatible with your printer.

Let me share the cartridge compatible table.

If your are using the compatible cartridge, then share the error message that you are getting for further assistance.

In the mean time , please follow the steps below and let me know how it goes.

Turn the printer on.

Open the door to access the cartridges.

Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

Remove the cartridge from its slot, holding it by its side.

CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then clean only the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the electrical contacts located inside the printer.

Wait 10 minutes for the contacts to dry.

Reinsert the cartridge.

Close the cartridge access door.

If the error persists, repeat the previous steps to clean the cartridge and carriage contacts a second time.

If this solution hit the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
