Is there some OPTION, SETTING, SECRET HANDSHAKE, SOMETHING, that will allow my "color" printer--to print IN COLOIR?!

I looked in the PRINTER PREFERENCES, but maybe I over looked it.  I screen shot all the tabs in the printing preferences.

Most common cause of this problem is fixed as follows:

On your computer go to control panel >devices and printers. Then right click the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Click the device settings and scroll down the list till you find device type and change it to color.

Yup, that's the ticket!

What threw  me was, the DEVICE TYPE was set to AUTO.  (Apparently, it doesn't know or remember that it's a COLOR printer!)

Now, it's time to check the other AUTO settings, to ensure they are NOT set to undesired values.
