HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw

I have been using this printer since March 2018. I was using HP ink jet since last time, i wanted to upgrade to Laser jet.But honestly it has been very disppointing.When you send command to printer its a hit and miss. Sometime it will print and other time will saty silent. So every time i send a command to this printer I gave to go there physically to see what has come out and what has not. Most of the time i have to resend the command to my inkjet printer to finish the job. 

Couple of months ago i rang Hp and spend more than an hour and changing and updating different settings but after short while the problem started again. I dont know if this the problem with this model or my printer. 

Any thoughts and advise on this issue. will appreciate. Its really frustrating.

Thanks for reaching out to the HP community and a good day to you. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it. Good analysis of the issue. It is amply appreciated.

I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:

  • Did you run HP print and scan doctor and check again if it prints?
  • Is the operating system Windows or Mac?
  • Did you try printing from multiple applications like MS Word or Adobe Reader?
  • Did you try printing multiple files and check?
  • Did you update the printer’s firmware?
  • Does the printer make photocopies directly?
  • Did it happen after a recent software or OS update?

For now, try these steps:

 

Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m280-m281-multifunction-printer-series/14... and follow instructions from the section “Step 2: Reset the printer

  • Now make photocopies directly from the printer without any communication from the computer.
  • If it copies correctly and the Operating System is Windows then perform these steps:

 

Run HP print and scan doctor by following directions from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02073861

Now check if the issue gets fixed. If it continues, then perform a root level uninstall and reinstall of the printer drivers if the OS is Windows by following these steps:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, in the control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top. 
  • Click on print server properties. 
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box, 
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again. 

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m280-m281-multifunction-print... and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

 

This should fix the issue.

please my printer can not perform any it because the screen is displaying 49 service error. please should I do to solve this error
