New Ink cartriges, unable to print..  to complete setup you must install the cartridges labeled setup but I do not have any...  the only set of cartridges are installed and do not work.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m really sorry you’re running into this. I know how frustrating it is when you have brand-new ink and still can’t get the printer to complete setup.

To help you correctly, I just need to confirm a couple of details:

1. Is this a brand-new HP DeskJet 2842e printer?

If it is new, the box should include HP “Setup” cartridges.
Please check the entire box once more, including:

  • The small cardboard side pockets
  • The documentation packet
  • The internal packaging folds

Sometimes the setup cartridges are packed separately and can be easy to miss.

If the setup cartridges are truly not included, you will need to contact the store of purchase so they can provide the missing items, as all new HP printers ship with them.

2. If this is NOT a new printer (or if the setup cartridges cannot be found),

We can still try to bypass the setup mode, but to do that, you must have:

  • Genuine HP 67 / 67XL ink cartridges (or the correct regional equivalent)

Could you please share a clear image of the ink cartridges you have installed, both black and color, so I can verify the type and help with the next steps?

Once I confirm the cartridges, I can walk you through the setup-bypass steps.
