Hello,
I have an HP DeskJet 4100e. I have not used the printer in several months and turned it on and received a message to replace my cartridges, which I have. An HP 305 TriColor and an HP 305 Black cartridge.
When I printed a Print Quality Diagnostic page, many of the colors did not print at all. Specifically Cyan, and Light Cyan. It recommends that I CLEAN CARTRIDGES I cannot for the life of my figure out how to do this.
I looked on You Tube and saw that I should rub the cartridge and the printhead with isopropyl alcohol, but from what I have read there appears to be an automated way to do it. I then googled how to Clean my HP Print Cartridges. Unfortunately the instructions I am given I cannot understand where on my computer to do this. These are the instructions:
- Double-click the deskjet series icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
- Click the Services tab.
- Click Service this device.
- On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges.
- Click Clean.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to finish cleaning the print cartridges.
Where is the Inkjet icon? When I double click the printer icon I get the following page which gives none of the options I am supposed to get
What am I doing wrong? I have also downloaded HP Smart on my Surface established an account, entered the cereal number and searched the entire site for Services cleaning options, but I am coming up dry.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
