Hi,
I have purchased HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3830 All-in-One Printer series in the UAE in 2017 and then moved to India now 2024. I ran out of ink and purchased a compatible cartridge from India. But it is giving an error. I called support, and they said that because it's a UAE printer, they cannot do anything.
I searched on the internet and read that regionalization is probably needed to make the printer work in a different region. Could I get some help on how I can do it? Some help is appreciated.
1. My printer is out of warranty now.
2. I have an India-compatible cartridge (or suggest the most near compatible cartridge).
3. I have Hp printer software
Thanks.

I notified the moderator of the problem. Some of the new HP printers allow the owner to change the region code without assistance. Look in the users manual for details including how many changes you are allowed. If you have an older printer that does not describe the regionalization process then expand the spoiler below and wait for an agent to help you.
Changing the region code can be difficult as described here.
When an agent contacts you ensure that the agent is familiar with the OS you are using. If the agent is in a different time zone try to get one in your time zone. If that is not possible you may need to choose the best time to make a contact.
I read that only 2, 3 or 4 region changes are allowed. It depends on which AI bot I ask.
You may need WhatsApp to work through the region reset procedure.
In any event you need to do the following:
1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges (toners) either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or, the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. The cartridges must be genuine HP.
5. Make sure HP Smart or the HP App is installed.
6. If the printer is not under warranty, then the ink cartridges or toners need to be in the warranty period.
How do I find my printer's region code?
Method 1: Print a Printer Status or Configuration Report
Many HP printers include the region on one of their internal reports.
• Print a Configuration Report or Printer Status Report.
• Look for entries such as:
1. Region
2. Regionalization
3. Country/Region
4. Market
Some models list a numeric region code (such as 1, 2, 3, etc.), while others list a geographic region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, etc.).
Method 2: Embedded Web Server (network printers)
If the printer is connected to your network read this.
Some business models display the regional information there.
Method 3: Read the cartridge error
If you receive a message like:
"The indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer."
that usually means the cartridge belongs to a different regional market than the printer.

Hi @Raj_k_singh,
Thank you for clarifying. Since this is your first region reset and you are currently in the India time zone, that is noted.
Regarding your question about the software:
HP Full Feature Software and Drivers and the HP Smart app are different.
The Full Feature Software and Drivers are the complete printer software package installed on the computer.
HP Smart is the application used to manage and set up the printer and is also required for this region-reset process.
You should therefore have both installed.
For the region reset, please make sure that:
The HP Full Feature Software and Drivers is installed on your computer.
HP Smart is installed.
Only the cartridges purchased for the new region/country are installed when performing the reset.
Once the region reset is successful, the cartridges from the previous region will no longer work with the printer. Therefore, make sure you are ready to switch permanently to the new-region cartridges.
The reset instructions are specific to your printer, and performing instructions intended for a different printer can potentially cause the printer to become unusable. For this reason, please do not use a reset procedure or code intended for another model.
I've sent you the specific reset instructions in a private message. Please follow those instructions to perform the full reset and reinitialize the printer.

Hello @Raj_k_singh @RajFitbit
You need to use the same login or email
Your printer should be registered through either HP Smart or the new HP App using the same emai.
That email needs to be the same one you are networking here with. If you use a different email to log in then you will not see the personal messages and will have trouble with the region reset.

Dear Kuroi_Kenshi,
How much time will you require to generate and give me the code once I provide the screenshot to you? I am asking because I have to return the cartridge if it does not work.
Thanks for your reply and help.

@BeemerBiker , my primary account is @Raj_k_singh .
RajFitbit was created by the HP site; why asking user name again even though I already set the username to Raj_k_singh .
Please delete my this account @RajFitbit .
I was able to access my private messages for the account Raj_k_singh till yesterday (before your message). But I am not able to access my private messages after your messages. Please check why and disable or delete my username "RajFitbit" . However, both are under the same email ID and HP parent account.
