HP DeskJet 3755 All-in-One Printer
iOS

I have an HP DeskJet 3755 All-in-One Printer that has been malfunctioning off and on for the past month or so now. The black ink won't print and the color ink is very faint. For a bit I was able to manually clean the printheads on the ink cartridge and that would do the trick but now that won't even help at all. I've even installed a new ink cartridge (even though the other one wasn't empty yet) and this didn't help either.

I have tried all of the following solutions and it still hasn't helped:

- Reseated the ink cartridges

- Reset the printer

- Reset the printer with the ink cartridges removed

- Ensured that Web Services were turned on

- Made sure that the firmware was up to date

- Cleaned the printheads via app

- Manually cleaned the printheads

And NOTHING even shows up when I try to print a test page .... I'm kind of at my wits end with this thing.

It also looks like it has been printing on the inside of the machine but not onto the paper ... which no matter how much I google, I can't seem to find a solution to.... for example, looks like I have information that I've printed but it's on the inside panel just underneath where the cartridges sit.

Would appreciate any and all help with this -- my printer went off of warranty just about the time that this started happening ....  so it's either fix this or  buy a new one which seems like such a waste.

Thanks all!

Hi @avranas ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've tried a lot of troubleshooting steps already. Since the issue persists, we can explore a few more advanced solutions:

1. Deep Cleaning the Printhead

Even though you've manually cleaned the printheads, there might still be some clogged nozzles.

Automatic Deep Clean: Use the HP Smart app to perform a deeper clean cycle. If the app has an option for a "second-level" or "deep" cleaning, try that.

Manual Soaking:

  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
  • Gently blot the printhead (the copper or gold-colored part) onto the damp cloth.
  • Let the printhead sit on the damp cloth for about 10 minutes.
  • Dry the printhead with a dry lint-free cloth and reinstall the cartridges.

2. Aligning the Printhead

Incorrect alignment can cause print quality issues. Align the printhead using the HP Smart app or printer software on your computer.

3. Checking the Printer Path

Since you mentioned that it looks like the printer is printing inside the machine but not onto the paper, it's possible there's an issue with the paper path or the printhead's position.

Paper Path Check:

  • Open the printer and check for any obstructions or debris.
  • Ensure the paper is properly loaded and the paper path is clear.

Printhead Position:

  • With the printer turned off, manually move the printhead to check for any resistance or obstruction.

4. Firmware Update  Update the firmware on an HP printer

Ensure the printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve print quality issues.

5. Resetting the Printer to Factory Settings

This can sometimes resolve deeper issues that aren't fixed by a standard reset.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Hold down the power button and the cancel button simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds.
  3. Release the buttons and the printer should start resetting.

6. Using a Different Computer or Device

Sometimes, the issue can be related to the communication between the printer and the specific device you're using.

  • Try printing from a different computer or device to see if the issue persists.

Refer to this document: HP DeskJet 3755 All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
