I purchased several compatible (non-HP) HP 67XL ink cartridges for use with my HP DeskJet Plus 4152 All-in-One Printer (4100 Series).

After installing the cartridges, the printer displays an error (orange light flashing), and HP Smart shows the message: “Non-HP circuitry detected." The printer is currently unable to print.

The installed firmware version appears to be from December 2025. (I just turned off the auto update after having this issue.)

Since I already purchased multiple cartridges, I would prefer not to discard them if possible.

Does anyone know whether firmware downgrade is supported for this specific model, or whether there is another workaround to restore compatibility with these cartridges?

Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Some HP printers with original, not updated firmware can use non-HP ink, your 4152 is not one of them, sorry. HP is not the only company that wants their own ink used. The last time I checked, Epson, Canon and Brother all do the same.

Some Laserjet printers can avoid these restrictions by not updating firmware.
My HP CM1415 takes any type of cheap toner. The cheaper the toner the uglier the printout.

None of the following work but you can try if you like

Thank you for your response and for the provided resources. I have looked into these but haven't found a successful solution yet. I'm trying to contact the vendor of the ink cartridges to get them to ship me new ones. But it's challenging because I bought these cartridges already a few months ago when my original cartridges were not empty. I wish I could find an older firmware for HP DeskJet 4100 series...

I hear that your Printer is not working with non-HP ink cartridges.
