Hi @joe5782,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with your HP Deskjet 2700 All-in-One printer. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can get the color printing working again.
Check Ink Levels
- On the printer's control panel, locate the ink drop icon or the "Ink Levels" option.
- Check if the color ink levels are sufficient. If they are low or empty, replace the color ink cartridge.
Clean the Ink Cartridges
- Open the printer lid to access the ink cartridges.
- Remove the color ink cartridge.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge.
- Let the cartridge dry for a few minutes, then reinsert it back into the printer.
Print a Quality Diagnostic Report
- From the printer's control panel, find the "Tools" or "Settings" menu.
- Look for an option like "Print Quality Report" or "Diagnostic Report" and select it.
- The printer will print a diagnostic page that might show if there are any issues with the color cartridge.
Check Printer Settings
- On your computer, open the document or image you want to print.
- Click on "File" > "Print" to open the print dialog.
- Make sure that the correct printer (HP Deskjet 2700) is selected.
- Click on "Properties" or "Preferences" to access the printer settings.
- Check that the print settings include color printing and not just black and white or grayscale.
Update Printer Drivers (Optional)
- Sometimes outdated printer drivers can cause issues. To update them:
- Go to the HP support website.
- Enter your printer model (HP Deskjet 2700) and follow the prompts to download and install the latest drivers for your operating system.
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Try printing a color document again.
Additional Tips:
- Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Sometimes, third-party cartridges can cause compatibility issues.
- If the problem persists, there might be a hardware issue with the color cartridge or the printer itself.
Give these steps a try and let me know if the color printing starts working again!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
