Bought a new cartridge 652 (Black) for my printer (HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2135) when the printer indicated that the ink was depleted. I do not purchase the colour cartridges as I print my invoices in black only.
I printed about 5 pages from the new catridge when a windows update was installed thereafter.
From then, my printer gave an incompatible cartridge error. The cartridge is a legit HP 652 cartridge purchased from a reputable retail outlet where I have previously purchased catridges without any issues.
Loaded all my details onto the HP website, completed all the checks, updates, ran the Scan/Print Dr, updated all the drivers, reset the printer, cleaned the cartridges, ran windows troubleshoot, deleted the windows update with no solution, no success. The error message however is changed to a damaged catridge.
Although I bought this printer about 3 years ago, I only actually started using it when we went on lockdown, found myself unemployed and had to make a plan to earn a living.
So here is my dillema:
*I do not have the money to purchase a new cartridge. Even if I did, it is a brand new cartridge barely used and what guarentee do I have that the same thing won't happen it doesn't read the new cartridge either.
I buy a new cartridge almost every month and barely print a 100 pages. Surely I should be getting a lot more printing out of these cartridges as my invoices do not even contain a lot of detail to justify ink cartridges being depleted on an almost monthly basis.
*** The warranty has expired and I also suspect that since 25 May 2021 (the date loaded on HP) and the windows update around the same time (ever so convenient), the printer now no longer reads the new cartridge.
** How does a windows update affect the cartridge on a printer to begin with?

Hi @OryxFusions,
I'd like to help!
Windows update does not affect the cartridge.
Actual yield will vary depending upon the amount of content on the page. Highly "dense" documents, such as the text document, may yield fewer pages, while less dense ones such as the organization chart would yield more pages than the standard. Printing that uses primarily one color could cause lower yields for that color, and higher yields for colors not heavily used. The yield you experience will depend upon the content that you print.
If you have already performed the steps from the document Ink Cartridge Errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
