HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2645 All-in-One Printer
  • Good day!

I have so many problems/questions about this printer. I want to know them before I make anything and purchase products compatible to this printer.

HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2645 All-in-One Printer uses two cartridges which is HP 678. One is for color black and one is for Tri-color. Tricolor uses dye based ink and I don't have problems with that because I already used the printer refilled by dye ink I purchased. While the Black uses pigment based ink.

I always told by the online seller that pigment ink is only for Epson printers.

1. Can I use dye ink to refill the black cartridge or it has to be pigment ink?

2. How to tell the difference of dye based ink and pigment based ink? Are there any differences between UV Pigment Ink, Premium Pigment Ink and Basic Pigment Ink?

3. Can I use Inkjet pigment ink for Deskjet printer?

4. Can I use universal pigment ink designed for Epson printers?

5. Wrong color printing. After a week without using the printer, when I print color yellow, it always print yellow green. Printing color red will print light brown.

I already injected dye black ink to the old black cartridge. After that, I read that HP 678 uses pigment based ink. Luckily,  I didn't use the refilled cartridge and bought a brand new one.

6. Can I revive the old cartridge? Can I just suction all the ink that I had refilled?

Can I open the cartridge and take out the foam and filter , rinse it, and take it back again? then refill pigment base ink? I want to know if it would be okay to rinse the filter.

7. Can I inject liquid cleaning to the cartridge holes and then suction all mixed pigment and dye ink until the cartridge get empty.

8. Does this printer has a waste ink pad? I want to clean it.

9. How to flush out all ink inside the printer?

10. How to reset ink levels of this printer after refilling cartridge?

11. How to clean carriage belt/driver belt/transfer belt/timing belt/plotter?

12. How to clean encoder strip?

Missing parts and damaged parts from my printer.

13. Has anyone know these? I suspect this is from inside ADF, but cannot see the half of the gear.

14. Has anyone know how to replace the sponge/foam of the service station for HP Deskjet 2640 series?

The absorber foam pad for the black ink already melted together with the ink sludge build-up.

I recommend you do NOT change the ink type, for two reasons: 1. The chemistry involved in dye versus pigment ink systems is different. So it is possible that, if you change from pigment to dye ink, the remaining old pigment ink will become unstable and cause printing problems at least, and maybe even clogged inkjets.

Pigment inks tend to be lighter in color than dye they are more water-resistant while producing a truer solid black than dye. Especially when the label is exposed to UV light for many months, the pigment ink holds its color, quality, and vibrancy better than dye.

After not using the printer in 1 week the ink with yellow and cyan may mix.

Thank you @skidibi. Like what I have said. The HP 678 Black cartridge uses pigment based ink already. So should I only use pigment ink designed for HP?

Yes.
