I bought an HP Printer from the UAE (Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515) when we were living there. We moved to India recently and found that the cartridges (650) aren't available here. I found that 678 is compatible, but when I installed the cartridges, I got an error on the printer saying that the "indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer." I think this is because of the infamous region locking issue that printers are known for. I tried the region reset (went to settings and changed region to India), but this did not work. Can someone please help me with this issue?

I notified the moderator of the problem.

Changing the region code can be difficult as described here.

When an agent contacts you ensure that the agent is familiar with the OS you are using. If the agent is in a different time zone try to get one in your time zone. If that is not possible you may need to choose the best time to make a contact.

I read that only 3 or 4 region changes are allowed. It depends on which AI bot I ask.

You may need WhatsApp to work through the region reset procedure.

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. The cartridges must be genuine HP.
5. Make sure HP Smart App is installed.
6. If the printer is not under warranty, then the ink cartridges need to be in the warranty period.

To perform a printer region reset, you need to meet the following conditions:


1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was 
purchased originally, or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.

4. Make sure the HP Smart App is installed too.
