Hi @KGery,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 4500 is recognizing WiFi and detecting documents but is not printing in ink after cartridge replacement and WiFi setup, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure that the new ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reinsert the cartridges, ensuring they click into place.
  • Check for any protective tape or packaging that might not have been removed from the new cartridges.

Perform a Printer Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve communication issues.

Check Ink Levels

  • Verify that the new cartridges have sufficient ink. If the cartridges are detected as empty or low, try using a different set of cartridges.

Clean the Printhead

  • The printhead might be clogged. You can initiate a cleaning process through the printer’s menu (on the printer screen) or through the HP Printer Assistant on your computer.
  • If this doesn’t resolve the issue, you may need to manually clean the printhead with a lint-free cloth dampened with warm water.

Print a Test Page

  • Try printing a test page directly from the printer’s control panel or from the printer software on your computer. This can help identify if the issue is with the printer or the computer's connection.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Ensure that the printer drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP support website to download the latest drivers for your model.

Check for Blocked or Stuck Paper

  • Ensure there is no paper jam or any obstruction in the paper feed mechanism.

Try Printing via USB

  • If the wireless connection is suspected to be the issue, try connecting the printer directly to your computer via USB to see if it prints correctly.

Check Printer Queue

  • Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the queue. Open the printer queue on your computer and cancel any stuck print jobs, then try printing again.

Factory Reset

  • If none of the above works, you can try performing a factory reset on the printer. This will remove all settings, and you will need to set up the printer from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
