HP ENVY 4502 / 61XL
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP ENVY 4502. I purchased a 61XL ink cartridge (first time to use 61XL cartridge instead of just 61 cartridge). I am now getting an error on the printer that the cartridge is Incompatible and that is not intended for use on this printer even though my printer is listed on the packaging.  Can anyone assist with resolving this issue?

@moonlighting, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

 

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. 

Insert one ink cartridge at a time and try printing to identify the defective ink cartridge.

Do you have an alternate ink cartridge to check if that works? Or insert the old ink cartridges to check for the error. By this, we can conclude if the new ink cartridge is defective.

 

Make sure the ink cartridges are properly inserted in the printer, you may refer to - Replace HP inkjet printer cartridges

 

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Ink cartridge error

 

If the error persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.
