I want you to know that i absolutely hate HP from the bottom of my heart. AI is not support. When my printer does not print correctly because of settings someone should answer the phone!!!!
I've experienced so much crap with you and had so many issues with you that it's unbelievable.
You're the worst company, with the worst support, i've ever experienced.
I now know that i will  NEVER get another HP printer

Hi @Maravilla1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I’m really sorry you’ve had such a rough experience, it sounds incredibly frustrating, and I can imagine how upsetting it must be to see all that ink wasted and not get the help you deserve. Please know I’m here now, and I truly want to help fix this for you.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Software Settings:

  • Ensure you have selected the appropriate paper type and print quality in the Print dialog.
  • Make sure there isn't a setting for printing in “Negative” or “Inverted” mode where colors are reversed.

Align the Printer Cartridges:

  • Aligning the cartridges ensures high-quality output. Load letter or A4 plan white paper in the paper tray.
  • Open HP Utility:
    • HP Utility is located in the Hewlett-Packard folder within the Applications folder at the top level of the hard disk.
  • Select the HP ENVY 4520 series from the list of devices on the left side of the window.
  • Click Align.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment.

Print a Test Page:

  • From HP Utility:
    • Select the HP ENVY 4520 series from the list.
    • Click Test Page and then Print Test Page.
    • Review the printed test page for jagged lines or streaks in the text and colored boxes.
  • If the test page shows streaks or missing portions, clean the print head.
  • From HP Utility:
    • Select the HP ENVY 4520 series.
    • Click Clean Printheads.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check the Document and Printer Settings:

  • Verify the document settings to ensure it is not set to print in negative or reverse colors.
  • When printing, check that the file being printed is not set to print with a black background:
    • Open the document you want to print.
    • Go to File > Print.
    • Click Show Details if necessary to expand the print dialog.
    • Ensure that color options in the print settings are correctly set for normal color printing and not for inverted colors.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP ENVY 4520 on macOS Monterey:

Try these steps and let me know how it goes. If it’s still not working right, don’t worry, we’ll figure it out together. You’re not alone in this, and I appreciate you giving us another chance.
